Fomer Navy chief sends letter of demand to Gen. Fonseka

Former Navy chief Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda has sent a letter of demand to common opposition's presidential candidate Gen. Sarath Fonseka demanding Rs. 500 million over a statement he had made in an interview with a private television channel on December 24, news.lk reported.




In the letter of demand, the former Navy Chief said the remark by Gen. Fonseka is per se defamatory of him, malicious and has tarnished his good name, reputation and public image, thereby causing him irreparable loss and damage.

The demanded sum of Rs. 500 million should be paid within 14 days and in the event of failing and/or neglecting to pay and settle the said sum legal action will be instituted against Gen. Fonseka to recover the said sum, it added.
