Story behind Hicorp and General Fonseka

Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font

The Hicorp website (www.hicorp.us) has confirmed that General Fonseka was aware of the arms bids as Chairman of the Tender Board about the arms transactions. However, it said that his decision to award the tenders to Hicorp, were not affected due to the relationship or ownership in the Company.

The website drew attention to certain allegations made in Parliament related to transactions with the Army. The Company clarified the issues related to the transactions. It said the Company followed proper procedures when bidding for tenders with the Sri Lankan Army, the Navy and the Air Force.

Danuna Tilakaratne, as President of Hicorp International and the British Borneo Defence said he was taking the full responsibility of all tenders bid for by them, namely partner companies, British Borneo Defense, Satpro Communications and Hitrone LC. He said they believed that these tenders were granted due to the lower bids they consistently offered to the Sri Lankan Forces.

Contradictory Statements.

Q: Corruption is a key platform of your campaign but there have been allegations of corruption leveled against you… particularly concerning your son in law’s involvement with Hicorp.

A: These allegations are absolutely baseless. Hicorp Sri Lanka was a local company founded by some young Royalists, many of whom were known to my son.

However my son had no direct connection with the company and despite submitting tenders it never won any contracts. Hicorp of the USA was registered in Oaklahoma and my son was a point of contact for the company though he was not involved in founding it. The company needed a US address and Danuna’s was provided as a contact address, that was the extent of his involvement.

While that company did win a tender to supply security cameras to army headquarters — documents prove that this tender was awarded while I was recovering from the 2006 suicide attack. I was in hospital and played absolutely no part in awarding the tender.

These allegations are part of an empty smear campaign and government money is being paid through one of our embassies to the Asian Tribune to perpetuate these lies.

But all anyone needs to do is look at where we live and how we live to see that we have not been involved in any corruption. Then look at the people making the allegations – the government — look at their life styles. I think its clear who is involved in corruption.

This is an urgent plea to all our friends,

We have been informed that our opponents have provided guns to their supporters to intimidate voters and rig the ballot boxes on January 26, 2010.

The Mahinda Campaign will never lower ourselves to such violent and malicious tactics.

We do, however, urge our supporters to do the following to ensure that their vote is secure
Please contact your religious leaders - Buddhist, Catholic, Christian, Hindu and Muslim and appeal to them to be part of the citizens movement at each polling booth. Get the religious leaders in your area to be at the front lines to help conduct a free and fair election and safeguard the ballot boxes and voters.
We will certainly provide security, but under no circumstances will we carry weapons to intimidate and circumvent the democratic process. We believe in the power of people - and we believe we don't need violence to win the election.
Please also contact the media and law enforcement if there are any attempts to rob you of your precious democratic vote.
Capture these incidents on your mobile phones, take pictures and bring these culprits to light who are planning to rob your vote.
The more people are aware of these abusive methods, the less their chance of success.

We need your help and we need it now.

As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change you seek in your world".

Please help us stop election violence.

Do we need Adolf Hitler of Idi Amin as our president.

If the answer is NO, pls DONOT vote for SF

The Patriot Campaign

Please forward this as an email to as many as posible

Even a ordinary person will not do something stupid like this and confess on their website. This is a scam and it's very obvious.
