Northern lawyers’ work stoppage continues.

Reports states the work stoppage which is adopted in Vavuniya, Mannar and Kilinochchi courts by the Attorneys is processing for the second successive week. The work stoppage was advanced insisting to arrest the person who had given death threats to the Chavakachcheri Magistrate K. Pribakaran.

Man performing witchcraft during trial against Ex-MP arrested

A man suspecting to be performing witchcraft inside a court room where a murder case against a former member of parliament was being heard was arrested this morning.

Gota states, Kumaran Pathmanathan is custody the control of Criminal Investigation Unit.

Chandrika’s Security Head Jailed

The head of security of former president Chandrika Bandaranayake Kumaratunge, SSP Nihal Karunarathne was yesterday sentenced to a four year jail term and was fined Rs 50,000 by the Kandy High Court Judge Preethi Padman Surasena. The judge ordered that Karunaratne be jailed for a further one year in the event of his failure to pay the fine.
